Rondoletta is one of several miniatures for small orchestra dating from the 1960s and '70s. Despite its rather fanciful title, it is not a true Rondo in form, consisting of a brief introduction followed by the main theme repeated a number of times, progressing through various keys and instrumental colours. This theme is, for the most part, accompanied by a secondary theme, played in a higher register. The introduction returns (in a longer form) halfway through, forming a link between two sections, and the piece is rounded off with a brief coda.
